Limbrick Wood Prospectus

At Limbrick Wood we aim to provide a safe, secure and happy environment for our school family.
We believe that learning within the National Curriculum has to be our priority. However, we also believe that children must learn about their social and emotional responsibilities in order that they grow into happy and successful adults.
ORGANISATION

Everyone works and plays in one building which has purpose built Nursery and Reception classrooms. Children work in year groups although Nursery and Reception work closely together as a Foundation Stage. All classes have their own teacher with a teaching assistant working alongside to ensure everyone gets plenty of help and attention.
THE WREN ROOM

The WREN Room is at the heart of our school, it is a place where some of our youngest children go when they need a little more support and nurture. Anyone in school may access the room, grown ups as well, it is a place that helps us to learn and to get along with everyone else. After all, we all need an extra bit of nurture from time to time.
WHAT WE TEACH

We teach all the National Curriculum subjects and our links with the local churches helps to ensure that our teaching of RE is both exciting and appropriate. We understand that there are many faiths in our multicultural society and although we are a broadly Christian school, we teach knowledge and understanding of all faiths.
We prepare children for their lives outside of school and for when they are grown up and perhaps parents themselves.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME

At Limbrick Wood we welcome everybody into our school. We make arrangements for anyone with a disability and there is easy access for everyone to all areas within the school.
We make huge efforts to include everyone in our community and our governors have written a special plan to make sure that this happens. We want everyone to feel included and valued.
WHEN WE COME TO SCHOOL
Nursery Session start at 9.00 and finish at 11.30.
Some nursery children stay for lunch and also belong to our Ladybirds Club in the afternoons.
Everyone else in the school starts at 8.55 and goes home at 3.15.
We have a Breakfast Club that starts at 8.00 and we also have an After School Club that looks after children until 5.30.
We love our school and want everyone to know how proud we are to belong to it, that is why we wear our uniform.
Our school uniform is a red sweatshirt, with a red polo shirt and a red fleece for cold days.
We wear dark trousers or a dark skirt, just like those in the picture. You can buy all of the tops in school, everything else you can get from a supermarket.
HOW TO JOIN OUR SCHOOL
Children can join our Nursery in the September following their third birthday and you can join our reception class the year after that. Children move on to the secondary school when they are eleven.
If you would like to find out more about coming to our school, why not talk to Mrs Drysdale or Mrs Protheroe in the school office, they are very kind and very helpful.

We really want to talk to mummies and daddies about how we can all work together to make sure that everyone gets the most out of their time at Limbrick Wood. Remember, this is your school and what you think really matters to everyone.
WE ALL WORK TOGETHER
No matter what is going on in your life there is always someone to talk to and share any worries that you might have. We spend a lot of time making sure that we can all get on together and be friends. We even have lessons about how to get along with people and what it is like to be a grown up.

The lunches in our school are really delicious! There is a great choice with plenty of chances to eat healthily. We even have our own ‘help yourself’ salad cart.
Milk and fruit are available to everyone at breaktimes.
PLAY, PE AND GAMES
We all like to run about and play. We have great games at school and there is always someone to help you enjoy yourself. Our playtimes are lots of fun with plenty of different activities to take part in. Our PE and Games lessons give us opportunities to try new things and learn different sports, and there are after school activities to enjoy as well!
